Element Investment Managers has identified a number of key principles which determine the way in which we operate: 

  • Ownership - Enabling effective economic access to the investment management industry through ownership of Element Investment Managers. 
  • Board diversity - Ensuring that the company leadership has the vision to keep abreast of the dynamics of a continuously changing environment. 
  • Staff development - The training, mentoring and provision of career advancement opportunities to all employees, in particular to those who have been previously disadvantaged. 
  • Affirmative action - The preferential employment of skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled candidates from historically disadvantaged communities.
  • Shareholder activism - The promotion of broad-based empowerment and internal cultural transformation in companies that Element Investment Managers invests in on behalf of its clients through advocacy, engagement and the use of shareholder rights.
  • Procurement - The preferential allocation of our procurement to suppliers who come from historically disadvantaged groups, and their fair treatment. 
  • Client relationships - The development of capacity among institutional clients on shareholder activism and proxy voting. 
  • Social initiatives - The investment of both executive time and money in social development initiatives, education and poverty reduction.
